*Multiculturalism in libraries.
-Ruhig Du Mont, Rosemary. Buttlar, Lois. Caynon, William. “Multiculturalism in Libraries” (7/1994) Greenwood Press. From Greenwood catalog online.
In the book the three authors give information on many different aspects of multicultural representation in libraries. General overviews about libraries and individual multicultural studies are included. The book gives additional information pertaining to cultural diversity and ethnic representation in libraries. These three authors look at what direction the future of libraries is heading and what we (Americans) should be doing to make that a better, more ethnically diverse, future.
After finding this article I found a few different reviews written about it. The on I chose to include was from the Library and Information Science Research Department. The writer states that the book is a very good depiction of multiculturalism and goes on to say that is is part of a source group needed today and of which there are few examples.
“Multiculturalism in Libraries is a significant contribution to the profession. We are desperately in need of sources about multiculturalism, or cultural diversity, and this book helps meet the need. We hope a very different book can be written before the year 2020. In the meantime, do read this one.”
